The actual drivers for more SVOD usage in Europe
May 27th, 2020. Parallel to the lockdown during the corona crisis, the usage of video streaming went up significantly. However, the start of Disney+ and the Easter holidays also fell during this time. So the increase in SVOD usage, shown by our VoD-Ratings.com throughout Europe, may have several reasons.
The biggest increase in daily usage (in min.) was in Spain, and the numbers also climbed quite significantly in UK. The peak occurred everywhere at the beginning of April. Since then, the numbers have levelled off or slightly below their initial level. But not in Germany: There was a slight but steady increase from March to May.
