Survey on Music-CDs

On behalf of the high-tech association BITKOM, Goldmedia asked Internet users from the age of 15 to 64 about their CD usage. The result: Every second Internet user says that the CD has become dispensable.

From the BITKOM press release (23. August 2012)
"Only every second user (51 percent) would feel the loss of the opportunity to purchase music on CD. For people up to 24 years old, 39 percent would mourn the CD, and for people over 45 that rises to 57 percent. [...] The CD is an example of the so-called "virtualization" of products in the consumer electronics sector. Certain functions or entire product categories are handled online."
