Not a single day without a series

73 percent of all Germans have at least one favourite TV or online series. Younger viewers watch more series than older ones. Among the most popular series providers are Amazon and Netflix.

Berlin, 19th of August 2015. Series are an integral part of viewers’ everyday life. Three-quarters of Germans watch at least one series on a regular basis, either on TV or online. Especially younger target groups are drawn to series. The most popular series providers are RTL, ARD, and ProSieben. It is furthermore remarkable that two VoD-only channels, Amazon and Netflix, are among the top ten.

These are the results of a recent survey conducted by the research and consultancy group Goldmedia (www.Goldmedia.com). Adult citizens were questioned on the subject of series in June 2015 (n= 1.128).
