Introduction of smart metering
The projekt was commissioned by the company Deutsche Netz Marketing GmbH.
The study investigated the opportunities for cooperation that would be generated between cable network operators/city carriers and EVUs in the upcoming upgrade to Smart Metering. The goal of the two-level study was to concretize the economic opportunities and risks of a cooperation between cable network operators or city carriers and the electricity companies, and to collate all relevant aspects of smart metering services, from a market-potential analysis through to market strategy recommendations.
In order to accomplish this, various pre-existing and newly developed business models in the smart metering sector involving marketability, profitability, and sustainability were evaluated in both qualitative and quantitative terms, against the background of the current legal, economic, and technical environments. Special focus was placed on the analysis of the value chain, along with the device technology used and the process description.
