Founded in March of 1999 in Berlin on the initiative of a group of representatives from business and academia, the IEB is a unique reference project which has successfully piloted an innovative model of higher education. It takes the form of a public-private partnership and receives no government funding whatsoever. It is a business platform which supports research and teaching, and organizes events which have a galvanizing effect on all who are involved. Collaborations with leading institutions such as University St. Gallen (Switzerland), the Edith Cowan University in Perth (Australia) and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (USA) illustrate the IEB's international focus.
